What is Breast uplift?
A breast uplift, or mastopexy, may be considered after pregnancy, weight change or ageing. The surgeon repositions and reshapes breast tissue and the nipple, creating scars whose pattern depends on the degree of lift. An implant may add volume but also adds implant-specific long-term decisions.
What should you consider before treatment?
Cup size cannot precisely define an outcome. Discuss upper-pole fullness, breast width, asymmetry, nipple position, scar pattern and whether uplift alone, augmentation, reduction or no surgery best fits the goal.
Risks and recovery
Risks include bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing, prominent scars, asymmetry, altered nipple sensation, tissue loss and revision surgery. Pregnancy and weight change can alter the result. Recovery includes support garments and temporary restrictions on lifting and exercise.
Questions to ask at a consultation
- Which scar pattern is proposed and why?
- Would an implant add benefit or only extra risk?
- How could sensation or breastfeeding be affected?
- What wound care and follow-up are included?
