What is Arm lift?

Arm lift surgery is often considered after substantial weight loss or skin change. Scar length depends on the amount and position of excess skin. Liposuction alone may help fat volume but cannot reliably tighten significant loose skin.

What should you consider before treatment?

Ask the surgeon to draw the expected scar and explain the likely change with arms raised and lowered. Weight stability, smoking, lymphatic issues and previous surgery can affect planning and healing.

Risks and recovery

Risks include bleeding, infection, fluid collection, delayed healing, wide or raised scars, asymmetry, altered sensation, swelling and blood clots. Lifting and arm movement may be restricted during recovery.

Questions to ask at a consultation

  • Where exactly will the scar run?
  • Is liposuction also proposed?
  • What raises my wound-healing risk?
  • How long will lifting and work be restricted?
